KRAG have reacted in typical resilient fashion to the news that the Appeal Court has upheld the appeal by RAV to overturn the decision to refuse planning permission to develop Redhill Aerodrome.
KRAG Secretary Paul Murray said:
"We understand that the High Court decision is currently in draft form but is likely to be fully adopted in the next few days. It is a technical matter concerning the wording of the Planning Inspectors decision which is not how it has been presented by RAV.
However both Tandridge and Reigate & Banstead councils have told us that they intend to challenge the High Court decision as the proposed development is still in contravention of existing Green Belt regulations. This action is likely to continue to be supported by the Treasury Solicitors on behalf of the Government.
This battle is far from over and we will be lobbying our MP’s Sam Gyimah and Crispin Blunt to continue to voice their opposition against this inappropriate development.
Yet again more public money is being spent to defend this Green Belt site against the desire by the owners to generate profit. It was Green Belt when they bought it and RAV continue to fail to understand that this designation severely constricts the possibility of development. Their War of Attrition has been waged upon the local communities for nearly 25 years and represents totally unreasonable behaviour and a disregard of democratic principals."
KRAG have always worked closely with other local groups to oppose this development. The local community continue to present a united front of opposition against this unwanted and unviable proposal.
